| Hellooooo xanga... i've been spending more time on facebook lately that i've somewhat abandoned you for a while ;P ... Facebook is just so addictive haha...
Anyways, i've been saying to myself that i wanted to make my own research page for a long while already...and now i've finally made one.. not 100% done yet and it's not very good but it's a start! The link is http://qlink.queensu.ca/~0cgml
The site just gives a glimpse of the kind of stuff i'm currently working on :0) Of course, I also have to thank Eric for helping me :) Thanks hun!

| The last two weeks has been hellish! My desktop computer at the lab broke down due to harddrive failure during the time when i was extra busy with conference, papers, presentations...etc.etc. I had a backup 2nd hard drive on the computer so I retrieved that while my computer was down at tech services. BUT....... even that FAILED after a few days working with it using an external casing. So even that had to be brought down to tech services to fix and replace. At that point, i just wanted to cry! Luckily, most of the important files were saved on the lab's server. Otherwise, i wouldn't know what to do. ...
Well, now all the chaos is (...hopefully...) over. I need to reintall all the programs and that's just such a pain !! I think i'll be extremely paranoid over backing up from now on. Need to get myself a WD Mybook!!!

| Couldn't sleep (now 3:25am here) so decided to write an entry on Xanga since I haven't updated in a while....
Well, my ted's on a plane right now on his way back to HK after a two week visit :( I went to Toronto yesterday to see him off. Feel kind of sad that I won't be seeing him until next September. Got used to his presence that it feels awkward not seeing him in Kingston now.
Spent so much money this past week on unnecessary things like clothing, boots... and more clothing ... guess it was because I went to Toronto for two weekends in a row and all the shops were just too tempting to resist It was also partially eric's fault for bringing me to so many malls. However, I had a lot of fun since I haven't gone shopping in a while. On another note, there's currently so much stuff in my apartment that i've collected over the years that I get a headache whenever I think of how i'm going to pack everything when it comes the time to leave Kingston... >,<
Anyhow, I really need to get my act together and catch up on some
work now ... need to work super hard this week, have some more
simulations, a report and proj writeup to do, then need to finish
typing the assignment solutions my TA prof all (hopefully) by Tuesday... Well, I better go get some shut eye so that I can wake up earlier tomorrow....

| Congratulations to my cousin Jiahua's marriage!! Too bad i couldn't go
to China to attend the wedding but sent her a gift a while ago. I actually haven't seen her in so many years. I remember when I was little (5 to 10 years old), every so often my parents and I would go visit their family and we used to play together all the time. Miss those childhood days ..lol..
Cheers to the happy couple :)

| The other day I went to a very interesting seminar on object recognition given Dr. David Lowe, who was a visiting professor from UBC, CS department. He was also one of my supervisor's prof and PhD examiner back in the day. (Yeah, my supervisor did his PhD at UBC!!). One of Dr. Lowe's PhD students was the one who developped the photo "autostitch" software that's widely used today. In case some of you are unfamiliar with this software, it is able to do auto sort and stitch pictures that's taken at different zoom levels, and randomly chosen areas (as long as they have some overlap). Also, a couple of years back, when
Dr. Lowe's student worked as an intern at Microsoft, they put his work
into the Digital Image Suite software! You can download a demo version of autostitch at http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autostitch/autostitch.html
Result of a couple of pictures I took randomly from the top of the tower in Macau.
